Giannis Ritsos




Giannis Ritsos was a great and prolific Greek poet of international importance, which belongs to the so-called generation of '30.
"Epitaphios,  Romiosyne, and Moonlight Sonata" is three of the most known works.
In 1975 he was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature.
During the occupation Ritsos lived prostrate nonetheless participated in the activity of the Cultural Section of EAM and refused to accept money from fundraisers, when in danger the life of the hardship in 1942.
In 1945 writes the "Romiosini" still a popular poem of, who in 1966 set to music by Mikis Theodorakis.
During the Civil War he was exiled because of the left action.
In 1956 he traveled to the Soviet Union as a State representative intellectuals and journalists and the same year was awarded the State Prize for Poetry for "Moonlight Sonata".
When I read the great French poet and writer Louis Aragon (1897 - 1982) felt the "physical shock a genius" and stated that the creation is "the greatest of the poets of our life that are found in the life"

MIKIS THEODORAKIS‏


Great composer, politician and writer, the most important and most controversial personalities of modern Greece.
Mikis Theodorakis was born in Chios on 29 July 1925, from father Crete and Asia Minor mother.
Before the Second World War had discovered the love for the music and wrote the first compositions.
During the Civil War (1946-1949) will be exiled first in Ikaria and then in Makronissos.
1958 reads the epitaph of Ritsos and on-night composer the first eight poems.
In 1960 they recorded for the first time the voice of Grigoris Mpithikotsis.
Theodorakis continues composer and the poetry of the leading representatives of the generation of 30
(Seferis, Elytis, Ritsos).

1964 will write music for Michalis Kakoyannis' film "Zorbas"!
With the dictatorship of 21 April 1967, will begin a new cycle of persecution and exile for the composer, which will end in 1970 with the amnesty granted to him.
In the exintachroni career, Mikis Theodorakis, has written more than 1000 songs, many symphonic works, music for dozens of plays and tragedies, operas and film scores.

George Seferis




George Seferis was a Greek diplomat, poet and writer, and the first Greek winner of the Nobel Prize in 1963.
He is one of the most important Greek poets with rich works and one of only Greek Nobel laureate literature together with Odysseas Elytis.
In 1963, George Seferis, awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
As argued, the choice Seferis, there was an opportunity to attribute a wonderful tribute in modern Greece, a linguistic area that waited too long for a prize-giving at this level.

Mohamed Ali




Mohamed Ali, the top boxers of all time he left today from life at the age of 74 years.
A legend in every sense of the word, that the Olympic Games of Rome in 1960 won the gold medal.
In 1964 he got his first world title in total and became heavyweight champion in three consecutive occasions!
Major sporting and news media highlighted the athlete of the century!
"I want to be remembered as a man who does not ever sell their own"
he said himself that beyond the great performance of the ring and had huge social action and influence with his word.
In 2005 he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest honorary distinction of American States for their citizens!
