Rumba




Rumba is street dance which became internationally known since the early 20th century.
It is reportedly influenced by African dances. The rumba was developed in Havana at the end of the 19th century. Because it was a very energetic dance often forbidden as dangerous to the slaves dancing.
The basic style is the Rumba Yambu is oldest and slow styles and danced mainly by older people.
Guaguanco which is the most popular style is danced in a fast and hectic.
