Rio 2016 Olympics



Few days passed from the time that the Olympic flame lit up the altar in historic Maracana Stadium between sixty thousand viewers.
The opening of the Olympic Games in Rio is already fact!
After four years revived again and for the first time in a Latin American country, in Rio in Brazil.
The spectacle was impressive!
In the ceremony dominate messages underlining the need for order and the nature of the protection to be first in importance.
For the first time the Olympic Rings did not have the traditional colors, blue, yellow, black, green and red.
Was green symbolizing nature, by sending a powerful ecological message! Good luck to all countries and to all athletes !!!

Revenant




Revenant is probably the best movie that survival has ever released starring the amazing Leonardo DiCaprio!
The movie is based on true events and plays the decade of 1820, where we see the Hugh Glass and his team to trade skins and trying to find his way back to the then uncharted America.
But when the Glass mortally wounded and betrayed by his colleague John Fitzgerald him too for dead, the Glass all alone will face the worst enemy, his nature. 
Cold, hunger, hostile tribes and other unexpected waiting in Glass, on a trip with the main ally of the will to live and his mania for revenge against the Fitzgerald.
In this here movie to the survival does not look like a breeze.
Things look like completely true and the scenes are realistic and presents hardness on the amazing DiCaprio set to really do feel the pain and suffering that passes the character embodied!
It is worth to really see !!!

Portugal winner of Euro 2016



Portugal from the evening of Sunday 10 July is on top of Europe after having managed to impress and win the EURO 2016.
The team of Fernando Santos, the man with so much kindness and humility who all remember the Greeks, gave to Portugal first time in the history of a EURO and without their big star Cristiano Ronaldo, who after having departed injured and 25' was applauded from all over the pitch.
Scorer of the goal that led the Iberians to the top of Europe against the hosts France was the change of use, ENDER, which with an impossible shot the ball in nets writing 1- 0 !!!

Giannis Ritsos




Giannis Ritsos was a great and prolific Greek poet of international importance, which belongs to the so-called generation of '30.
"Epitaphios,  Romiosyne, and Moonlight Sonata" is three of the most known works.
In 1975 he was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature.
During the occupation Ritsos lived prostrate nonetheless participated in the activity of the Cultural Section of EAM and refused to accept money from fundraisers, when in danger the life of the hardship in 1942.
In 1945 writes the "Romiosini" still a popular poem of, who in 1966 set to music by Mikis Theodorakis.
During the Civil War he was exiled because of the left action.
In 1956 he traveled to the Soviet Union as a State representative intellectuals and journalists and the same year was awarded the State Prize for Poetry for "Moonlight Sonata".
When I read the great French poet and writer Louis Aragon (1897 - 1982) felt the "physical shock a genius" and stated that the creation is "the greatest of the poets of our life that are found in the life"

MIKIS THEODORAKIS‏


Great composer, politician and writer, the most important and most controversial personalities of modern Greece.
Mikis Theodorakis was born in Chios on 29 July 1925, from father Crete and Asia Minor mother.
Before the Second World War had discovered the love for the music and wrote the first compositions.
During the Civil War (1946-1949) will be exiled first in Ikaria and then in Makronissos.
1958 reads the epitaph of Ritsos and on-night composer the first eight poems.
In 1960 they recorded for the first time the voice of Grigoris Mpithikotsis.
Theodorakis continues composer and the poetry of the leading representatives of the generation of 30

George Seferis




George Seferis was a Greek diplomat, poet and writer, and the first Greek winner of the Nobel Prize in 1963.
He is one of the most important Greek poets with rich works and one of only Greek Nobel laureate literature together with Odysseas Elytis.
In 1963, George Seferis, awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

MANOS HADJIDAKIS ( 1925 - 1994 )‏



Unique, ingenious and restless, the greater musical genius of Greece, Manos Hadjidakis, born on 23 October 1925 in Xanthi.
In the difficult years of occupation and liberation, Manos Hadjidakis worked as a stevedore at the port of Piraeus, ice seller in the Fix factory, employee at a photo, assistant Nurse in military hospital.

CHERNOBYL‏




Thirty years after Chernobyl.

Amazing time in a pandemonium of enthusiasm events and by the sounds of "Space oddity" as U2, crowd of 80,000 fans for the first time in their first concert in Athens! !!
What course he was sounded when the "Beautiful day" is impossible to describe with words!!!

JOHN LENNON ( 1940 - 1980 )‏


Songwriter, musician, writer and fighter for peace, which became world famous as a member of the legendary band
"the Beatles".
John lived for music and in March 1957 he founded his first band with jazz and blues influences.
In July 1957 knows Paul McCartney!
In mid-1959, the band renamed Beatles and begins performances in Hamburg and Liverpool.

FLYING THE KITE‏



Clean Monday we have the custom of flying the kite. Where however comes this custom?
The kite ( "kite, tako, papalote, drachen, χαρταετός ") appears to be flown for the first time around 200 BC in China and Malaysia.
There they built the first kites from silk and bamboo.
In kites then went to Korea and Japan. In Europe came around 1400 AD by European explorers who traveled in Asia. During the two World Wars were used as observation devices.
Today every country has its own traditions around the flying kite.
