From which they took their names


Mykonos: the name Mykonos, known from the ancient coins and inscriptions, attributed by tradition the eponymous hero Mykonos descendant of the mythical king of Delos Anios, son of the legendary king of Delos Apollo and nymph Rious daughter of Dionysus.


Santorini: the name of the island “Thira” comes from the ancient Spartan Thiran who colonize first in the island .But the name Santorini comes from the Franks Crusaders who during their passing stood for refueling near the church of Agia Irini which existed on the island.

Kerkira-Corfu: according to many scholars the name comes due to the nymph Kerkira, daughter of the river Asopu. The god Poseidon fall in love the beautiful girl, brought her to the island and gave to the island her name. By their love brought to life Feaka,the legendary forefather of Feak’s.
